The heat treatment process of leaf springs is a critical step to enhance their strength, toughness, and fatigue life. It typically includes three main procedures: heating, quenching, and tempering.
First, the leaf spring is heated to a specific austenitizing temperature (usually between 850°C and 950°C) to transform the internal structure of the steel into a uniform austenite structure.
Next, rapid cooling (quenching) is performed, usually using oil or water as the cooling medium, to form a high-hardness martensite structure.
Finally, tempering is carried out by heating the leaf spring to an appropriate temperature (such as 400°C-600°C) and holding it for a certain period, which helps relieve internal stress while improving toughness and fatigue resistance.
Through a scientifically designed and well-executed heat treatment process, the leaf spring can achieve high strength while maintaining excellent elasticity and durability, meeting the demands of vehicles under complex working conditions.
